German trainer Jurgen Koschel and his wife Gabriele have sold their equestrian yard Hof Beckerode to the German Koch family. The Koschels built the facility in 2006 and it neighbours Hof Kasselmann.
The 71-year old Jurgen Koschel wants to slow down on business. He resigned from his position as German Under 25 team trainer at the end of 2016 and at the same time son Christoph officially took over his father's half share into their co-owned enterprise Koschel Dressage. Christoph has assigned Philip Ruwe as his business partner and assistant trainer. For the past three years Christoph and his wife Patricia Koschel have been spending their winters in Florida training several clients.
German equestrian magazine Reiter Revue broke the news of the sale. "Nothing really changes," Christoph Koschel told them. "I used to rent boxes from my parents and now I will rent them from the Koch family. Of course I could have taken over the yard from my parents, but like this I can stay more flexible."
Hanna and Leonie Koch are talented and motivated A-level pony riders who train with Christoph. Leonie has been competing two ponies so far, Ombre (by Offshore Energy R x Donauwind) and Al Bundy (by Arts Arason x Hafodyresgob Bubzy).
