Henkie, Great Lady TC, Fleau de Baian Win 2017 Dutch Semi-Finals for 2017 World Young Horse Championships

2017 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

The 5-year old Henkie, the 6-year old Great Lady TC and the 7-year old Fleau de Baian became the winners of the Dutch semi-finals in the qualification process for the 2017 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 3 - 6 August 2017. After four qualifiers and a semi-finals, the top 10 per age division are now eligible to contest the actual finals for Dutch team selection.

The Dutch WCYH selection trials are a joint venture of the KWPN society and Dutch Equestrian Federation. The 10 highest scoring horses per age division in the semi-finals are eligible to compete at the Finals held during the 2017 Dutch Championships in Ermelo in July. The semi finals took place in Etten-Leur on 16 - 17 June 2017.

In the 5-year old division Adelinde Cornelissen won the class on the Gelderlander bred and licensed stallion Henkie (by Alexandro P x Upperville) with 87.2 points but they had Dinja van Liere on the KWPN registered Haute Couture (by Connaisseur) breathing down their neck with an 87.0 score. Dutch based Spanish rider Ainhoa Prada Ortiz finished third on the mare Hannelinde (by Dream Boy) with 86.2 points. 

In the 6-year old category the top three was more spread out with Jeanine Nieuwenhuis and Tim Coomans' Great Lady (by Bretton Woods) as the clear winner on a 87.6 point score. Adelinde Cornelissen and the KWPN licensed stallion Governor (by Totilas x Jazz) were second with 85.2, followed by Dana van Lierop on the liver chestnut stallion Gunner KS (by Belissimo M) with 82.2.

Adelinde Cornelissen also won the 7-year old division aboard Fleau de Baian (by Jazz x Ulft), the full brother of her top Grand Prix horse Parzival. The pair scored 79.2% for the victory. Kirsten Brouwer and the KWPN licensed stallion Ferdeaux (by Bordeaux x Ferro) were on the heels of the winning duo with their 19.141% score. Lynne Maas and the KWPN bred Fantastique (by Vivaldi x Florencio) landed third place with 76.172%. They were last year's bronze medal winners at the 2016 Pavo Cup Finals.
