The gelding Kawango has been named the Trakehner of the Year 2017 at the 2017 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany, on 13 October 2017. The title reserved for a sport horse that has contributed significantly to the success of the breed.

Kawango is a 2005 born chestnut gelding by Sixtus out of Kandra (by Kostolany x Schwalbenherbst x Flaneur)

Kawango was bred by Friedrich Isaak and is owned by Hanne Brenner. Together with Hanne, he is one of Germany's top para-equestrian athletes and won the German National Championships this year. He is also successful in regular dressage at L and M levels both with Hanne and Dorte Christensen in the saddle.Karawango is a full brother to the late top sport horse sire Kasparow and comes from an exceptional sport horse family, which also includes the Grand Prix gelding Kevin, the Inter I winning mare Kira K, the S level dressage mare Karisma V and many others.

It is Hannelore Brenner's explicit goal to compete at the WEG in 2018, and also take her chestnut gelding to the Tokyo Olympics. All we can say is "best of luck to you" - we are thrilled that the Trakehner Verband recognizes your outstanding contribution to the breed and the sport by honoring you with this prestigious title.
