The 5-year olds Ballantines Finest and Zaphir and the 6-year old HBS Backround became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional dressage and show jumping competition in Hille, Germany, on 30 May - 3 June 2018.
A large group of 5-year old presented itself at the starting line and the class was split up into two divisions. The smaller first division was won by Sandro Kötter aboard Ballantines Finest (by Beltano x Florestan) with an 8.1 score. She referred Patricia von Merveldt on the Oldenburg bred High Heels (by Damon Hill x Roadster) to second place with 7.6.
In the second group of 5-year olds Bianca Nowag rode Zaphir (by Zonik x Quattro B) to victory with the same winning score of 8.1. Two combinations tied in second place with 7.5: Andreas Elsbecker on Late Twenty Eight (by Lemony's Nicket x San Remo) and Merit Ohlemeyer on Sir Anthony (by Sir Heinrich x Don Bosco).
In the 6-year old division professional Ann-Christin Wienkamp topped the board with HBS Backround (by Boston x Florencio). The combination scored a winning 8.60 and edged out Maike Mende on First Class (by Furstenall x Bergamon) with 8.3 as well as Eva Möller on Best Friends (by Bordeaux x Don Primero) with 8.1.
