The annual German Championships in Balve are a hayday for German Dressage. Hosted at Count Von Landsberg-Velen castle domain, the German Nationals bring out the best Germany has to offer in the Grand Prix divisions as well as in the developing Prix St Georges classes.
This years the nationals were blessed with good weather and the competition saw a young star take highest honour: the 23-year old Sönke Rothenberger surfaced at the top taking gold in the technical division (Grand Prix + Special) and in the artistic division (Kur to Music).
Balve also featured classes for Developing Prix St George horses (Nurnberger Burgpokal qualifier) and the German Under 25 riders (Piaff Förderpreis).
