The KWPN Dutch warmblood society has 552 registered licensed stallions with approximately 12,000 KWPN offspring competing at Z1-level or higher. Which KWPN stallion has the most offspring in sport?

The KWPN society answered that questions and not so surprisingly it is their dressage foundation stallion Jazz who has 666 offspring in sport competing at Z1 level or high. The Trakehner stallion Gribaldi is next with 477 offspring, followed by Holsteiner Flemmingh with 378 offspring.

With a high covering rate and lot of offspring registered, it is only logical that these big name stallions have much offspring sport.

Jazz is also the sire with the most offspring competing at Grand Prix level. He has 131 GP offspring (4.2%). Contango is the second best Grand Prix producer in Holland with 24 offspring (3.8%).

Painted Black (21 GP-offspring, 3,6%), El Corona (10 GP-offspring, 3,5%), Welt Hit II (21 GP-offspring, 3,2%), Aktion (11 GP-offspring, 2,9%), Gribaldi (82 GP-offspring, 2,7%), Krack C (39 GP-offspring, 2,5%), Cocktail (10 GP-offspring, 2,5%) and Chronos (13 GP-offspring, 2,5%).

However, if one looks at the percentage rate taking the number of offspring produced and the number of offspring successful at Z1-level, than another stallion surfaces at the top: the American owned Sir Sinclair (by Lord Sinclair). He has 21.9% of his offspring ranking at Z1-level or higher. The second best producing performer is Cocktail with 21.4% and then followed by Jazz together with Ziesto with 21.2% of their offspring a Z1-level.

Now disappeared from sport before making his international Grand Prix debut, the Austrian owned Ziesto has 104 offspring registered with the KWPN and no less than 22 of them are competing at Z1 level or higher!

El Corona is at 18.3%, Welt Hit II is at 18.1%, Painted Black at 18%, Krack C at 17.5%, Olivi at 17.4% and Cabochon at 17.2%.

Charmeur and Connaisseur

Horses are only allowed to compete at Z1-level as of the age of 6, so the older sires lead the statistics.

If one looks at the younger stallions, the sires which have been licensed in 2011 and have their first offspring born in 2012 can contribute to these statistics. So far Charmeur is the leader as he has no less than 1300 foals born and 32 of these are not at Z1 level. Percentage wise it is the Canadian owned Connaisseur who scores best. He has 100 offspring registered in Holland and 3 are already at Z1-level.
