Aniko Losonczy's Grand Prix team horse Mystery has been retired from competition sport. The mare is 17 years old.

Mystery is a Hanoverian mare by Margue H out of Daliah (by Delano). She is bred by Ludowieka Haspecker.

Zaneta Skowronska

Owned by Andrzej Salacki, the liver chestnut mare was developed to Grand Prix level by Zaneta Skowronska in Poland.

Skowronska made her international Grand Prix debut on the mare at the 2013 CDI Radzionkow and has consistently competed her throughout the years.

The pair represented Poland at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen and 2015 European Championships in Aachen.

In 2016 the mare moved to horse dealer Arnold Winter at Neu-Anspach and was shown in Germany by Jennifer Schön between March and May 2016. Skowronska was back on board for the 2016 World Cup qualifier in Brno and their last show, the CDI-W Augustowek in September 2016.

Aniko Losonczy

At the 2017 European Championships
In February 2017 Aniko Losonczy purchased the mare as her new Grand Prix ride and in an effort to write history for her country by qualifying a complete team for the 2017 European Dressage Championships in Gothenburg.

Losonczy and Mystery pulled it off and joined Robert Acs and Nikolett Salai on a team of three riders in Gothenburg, where the team was 14th and the pair 52nd with 64.671% in the Grand Prix.

The last time Hungary had more than one rider at a continental championship was at the 1981 European Championships in Laxenburg, Austria, where Gyula Dallos and Robert Acs showed.

The pair did only one CDI in 2018 (Brno) and in 2019 they competed at two shows, Mariakalnok, and Lipica, but they were disqualified at the later event due to a controlled medication case.

Retirement

Thank You Mystery
Losonczy, who manages the Mariakalnok dressage centre with Nikolett Szalai and Iryna Lys as her wingmen, decided that 2020 would be the year to retire Mystery.

The duo competed in their last CDI on home turf, the first international post corona at Mariakalnok on 26 - 28 June 2020. They were 13th in the Grand Prix with 65.261% and 8th in the freestyle with 71.200%.

A special retirement ceremony took place at the event, where also Zaneta Skowronska and previous owner Andrzej Salacki were honoured with flowers.

"Every rider has that one special horse that one horse who changes everything about them," said Losonczy about her mare. Mystery has been retired from sport and Aniko hopes to breed a foal out of her.
