Reserve rider Alexa Westendarp has been called up to replace team rider Jil Marielle Becks on the German Under 25 team for the 2020 European Youth Championships.

The 22-year old Westendarp and Hof Kasselmann's 17-year old DSP bred Hicksteadt (by Hudson x Walt Disney) are the first reserves for the German U25 team and will be competing at the Europeans in Budapest, because Becks has withdrawn.

The 22-year old Becks, who won team gold and individual bronze at the 2019 European U25 Championships, will not be able to compete in Pilisjaszfalu because her horse is not fit.

"Our team vet Marc Koene examined Damon's Delorange and unfortunately concluded that she is not fit enough to show an optimal performance at the European Championships," said Backs. "So we decided to withdrawn, which is of course not an easy decision and it saddens me greatly."
