Sophia Ludvigsen, the 2020 Danish Young Riders Champion, has been selected for the Blue Hors Talent Program and received the ride on the 6-year old Blue Hors Quintana.
The 17-year old Ludvigsen began her international dressage career on ponies in 2017, competing Kentris Afrodite. In 2018 she moved to junior level with the now 10-year old Gorklintgards Jericho (by Jazz x Sunny Boy). Ludvigsen is a multiple medal winner at the Nordic Baltic Championships (NM). In 2018 she got NM individual silver and team gold.
In 2019 she moved up to Young riders level aboard Safari Klintgaard (by Sunny Boy x Don Schufro), which she showed in Aachen, Aalborg, Aarhus and Lier this year right before the corona lockdown. This summer she won the Danish Young Riders Championships on Jericho.
Ludvigsen lives in Gråsten, Denmark and attends high school in Sønderborg. She began riding as an 8-year old and got her own first pony as a 9-year old. She comes from a horsey family with her mom and trainer being international Grand Prix rider Pernille Ørum.
Talent Spotted
Ludvigsen's talent has not gone unnoticed and the Danish stallion and dressage station Blue Hors decided to select her for their talent program.
"My goal is to develop my riding and improve my skills in dressage, so I am very much looking forward to the collaboration with Blue Hors and their Talent Program," said Sophia. "I look forward to sparring with their skilled riders, coaches and the whole team, of which I am proud to have become part."
Sophia has now received the ride on the 6-year old Blue Hors Quintana (by Quantensprung x Desperados).
" I am really looking forward to getting to know him better and I hope to be able to get him ready for the junior classes next year," said Sophia. "Quintana is in many ways reminiscent of my horse Jericho, which I have chosen to pull from competition after the Danish Championships. Therefore, it will be great to have a horse in the stable that can take over Jericho's place."
Blue Hors Talent Program
Blue Hors stud in Denmark has created the "Blue Hors Talent" program three years ago to develop a talent base and help talented young riders to be among the best in the world as aspiring professionals.
The Blue Hors Talent programme includes 2 to five talented young riders aged 15-23. The selected riders get the opportunity to work with talented horses, receive training and consulting in the professional presentation of horses and as being a professional athlete. The participants are selected according to their potential.
Previous dressage riders submitted to the Blue Hors Talent Team are Anders Sjobeck Hoeck and Cecilie Dybro Jensen.
