Swedish multiple Olympian Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven has a new Grand Prix horse in the barn, Devanto.

Devanto is an 11-year old Holsteiner gelding by De Chirico out of Ribana II (by Lorentin x Fleming x Magnat II). He is bred by Holger Wesselmann.

German Beginnings

Devanto was originally owned by Chrissi Speck, who discovered him as as 3-week old foal at the breeder. He was first ridden by the owner and Maike Günthner, but sold to Peter Brenske through dealers Sam Jolig and Frederic Bünger in July 2014.

The horse was first competed by Hartwig Burfeind and Juliane Brunkhorst in 2015.

In 2016 Jochen Vetters took over the ride and produced him to Grand Prix in a year time. They did their first Inter II in March 2017.

Brenske then allocated Devanto to his girlfriend Nathalie Westphal, who competed by the bright bay at national small tour level in 2017. She rode him for one year.

In 2018, the ride returned to Juliane Brunkhorst, who was then still married to Hartwig Burfeind at the time and rode under her married name Juliane Burfeind. The pair were quite successful at Grand prix level. They finished 7th in the Louisdor Cup Finals in Frankfurt. The pair competed at just three CDI's though, the 2019 CDI Nieuw en St. Joosland, 2019 CDI Hamburg, and 2020 CDI Herning. Their biggest success was at regional level, winning gold at the 2019 Schleswig Holstein Championships in Hamburg. Their last start was at the local show in Elmshorn in July 2020, where they won all three big tour classes, posting 74.9% in the Grand prix.

Swedish Olympic Hopeful for Tinne Vilhelmsen

In September owner Brenske decided to sell  his high quality Grand prix horse Devanto and moved him to Christian Flamm to be sold.

Swedish Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven tried him out and her long-time sponsor Antonia Ax:son Johnson acquired the horse.

Tinne retired her Olympic ride Don Auriellio at the 2019 World Cup Finals in Gothenburg. Despite a barn full of horses, she has not yet had the fortune  to reconnect with the international world top. Stallion Benetton Dream got injured, Paridon Magi was also injured for almost a year and a half and is now 17 years. He returned to the arena in 2020 with assistant trainer Caroline Darcourt.

The future looks bright though as Tinne has no less than five Grand Prix horses to ride at the moment. Esperance (by Sorento x Rousseau) she last competed internationally in July 2019 and Etoine (by Vivaldi x Balzflug) showed in Wellington 2020 that he does not yet have the maturity. However Tinne's two rising Grand Prix horses spark hope: Lord Django (by Stalypso x Londonderry) and Van Vivaldi (by Vivaldi x Olivi) have been posting promising seventy percentage marks in the medium tour.

Devanto will be a confirmed Grand Prix horse for her with the 2021 Olympics and/or European Championships in sight next summer.
