The 5-year old Diaton and the 6-year old Forever Valentine became the winners of the Bundeschampionate qualifier held at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany, on 2 June 2021.
The two L and M-level dressage horses classes were packed with riders representing eight different countries.
5-YO: Diaton
Twenty combinations competed in the 5-year old division, which was judged by Ute von Platen, Katja Westendarp, and Heinz-Holger Lammers. No less than 8 combinations achieved the required 8.0 or more to make it to Warendorf.
Homeside hero Frederic Wandres topped the board with Pferd International Equine Inc's Hanoverian stallion Diaton (by Dimaggio x Benetton Dream) on a whopping total score of 9.2 points. The liver chestnut earned 10 for walk, 9 for trot and canter, 8.5 for submission and 9.5 for general impression.
Hof Kasselmann's Lars Ligus landed second place on Ulli Kasselmann's Oldenburg mare Total Target (by Total Hope x Bretton Woods) with 8.8. The black mare received 9 for walk, 8.5 for trot and canter, 9 for submission and general impression.
Two Dutch riders tied in second place with 8.2 points: Febe van Zwambagt on Kerstin Klieber's Hanoverian stallion Le Vermont (by Le Vivaldi x Furst Heinrich) got 7 for walk, and 8.5 for trot, canter, submission and general impression. Dinja van Liere steered Iron Spring Farm's Oldenburg stallion Lowlands (by Millennium x Donnerball) to 8.5 for walk and canter, 8 for trot, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
6-YO: Forever Valentine
In the 6-year old class Thomas Schulze steered the Belgian owned Westfalian mare Forever Valentine (by Franziskus x Laurentio) to victory with 8.8 points. Owned by Caroline van Zele, the bay mare was already second at the Haftenkamp qualifier with 8.3 but in Hagen they switched it up a gear. The horse scored 8.5 for walk and canter, and 9 for trot and submission and general impression.
Norwegian Isabel Freese landed second place aboard Paul Schockemöhle and Lone Boegh Henriksen's Oldenburg stallion Vivaldon (by Vivaldi x Diamond Hit) with 8.6. The dark bay stallion got 7.5 for walk, 9 for trot, canter and submission and 8.5 for general impression. /
Spanish Borja Carrascosa and his own Westfalian mare De Sica (by De Niro x Gribaldi) were third on 8.3. The black mare received 8.5 for walk and trot, 7.5 for canter, and 8.5 for submission and general impression.
