The 2021 summer show season is not even close to coming to an end although the Olympics are six weeks behind us.

Competition action is going full steam ahead with the 2021 European Dressage Championships for seniors and under 25 riders this week at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, followed by the CDIO Aachen next week.

Europe’s elite riders have gathered in Hagen for the next challenge. Some riders chose to rest their horses after the long journey and heavy competition in Tokyo, others were eager and fresh for more glory, and made themselves available for re-selection on the team.

The 2021 Europeans started on Monday afternoon 6 September with the horse inspection, first for the seniors and then the U25s.  For the first time since the inception of the U25 Euros in 2016, the “youth” riders get to compete at the same event as the seniors.

In the senior division most horses passed the trot up easily, some were on not so perfect behaviour and no less than five horses were held for re-inspection on Tuesday morning at 7h00.

According to Horse & Hound, the horses that were held by the ground jury are Beirao (Duarte Nogueria), Bufranco (Charlotte Heering), Embajador SG (Nausicaa Maroni), Poseydon (Anna Diachenko) and Esporim (Anna Merveldt).
