International dressage sport at the 2022 CDI 3* Geesteren

In 2019 a beautiful FEI Nations Cup dressage took place in Geesteren. All participants were very satisfied with the facilities and the atmosphere. After the corona pandemic, the CDI3* is firmly on the calendar in Geesteren, in the east of the Netherlands from 10 to 12 June.

During the CDI3* there are 5* judges present, very important for riders who still have to achieve their MER-score for the World Dressage Championships in Herning. In addition, Small Tour riders and Juniors can also participate at this fantastic location.

Experienced Panel

The ground jury boasts experience with three 5* judges (Susan Hoevenaars, Elke Ebert and Isabelle Judet) and five 4* judges (Carlos Lopes, Sunil Shivdas, Hans Voser, Marlena Gruca Rucinska and Maarten van der Heijden). The panel is completed by Dutch 3* judges Patricia Wolters and Masha Reijs with Dutch judge Maarten van der Heijden serving as president of the ground jury.

Dutch judge Maarten van der Heijden
Maarten van der Heijden: “For many years, Geesteren has had this fantastic show jumping competition with a lot of history, including nations competitions. In 2019, the OC beautifully took over the organization of the FEI Longines Nations Cup from Rotterdam, which then hosted the European Championship."

Maarten continued, "It is a beautiful property with excellent footing. Everyone was satisfied with the parking facilities and the open spaces on and around the slopes. It would be great if Geesteren could build up such a beautiful history in dressage as well as jumping.”

Riders from all nations are invited to this show. The Grand Prix has space for 20 riders, the same amount of riders for the Small Tour and 20 Junior Riders.

Rob Maathuis

CSI Twente organizer/event director Rob Maathuis stated, “we took the plunge in 2019, at the request of the Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS) to organize both the Nations Cup jumping and dressage. That this worked out extremely well, for us as a crown on the work. We are therefore very grateful that the Nekeman family, owner of the main sponsor company Interfloor, has decided to support the dressage program."

The Geesteren show grounds
Maathuis added, "you will not find the unique combination of a compact unit, a lot of public interest and entertainment until the late hours with top artists. We hope to welcome many international dressage riders to our wonderful facility."
