Ulf Helgstrand is certainly a multi-tasker and is now also pursuing a career in politics. He has been head-hunted by the new Danish political party Moderaterne as a Parliamentary candidate.
Multi Tasker
Helgstrand is doctor and professor of vascular surgery, but he has much more on his plate: he is also the president of the Danish Equestrian Federation (DRF) since 2003, Deputy Chair of FEI Group II since 2007, and Vice President of the European Equestrian Federation (EEF) since 2010.
He recently ran for the post of Chair of the FEI Dressage Committee, but Mexican judge Maribel Alonso won the election. In 2014 he also ran for the FEI Presidency, but Princess Haya got re-elected.
He is a former board member and Vice President of Danish Warmblood Association (1993 - 2003).
Political Career
Ridehesten reported that Helgstrand is now adding a potential political career to his book of life.
Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the Former Prime Minister of Denmark, founded a new political liberal party, Moderaterne, in 2021 and this weekend the party presented their parliamentary candidates for the next election, including Ulf Helgstrand.
Ulf Helgstrand is married to Ewa and they have three children, including Danish horse dealer and business entrepeneur Andreas Helgstrand.
