Belgian Team Selected for 2022 World Championships Dressage

The Belgian Equestrian Federation has announced the team that will represent Belgium at the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning (DEN) on 6 - 11 August 2022. 

A fairly new group of riders, different from the one that rode at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, has climbed the ladder this 2022 show season and rode itself in the picture of the selectors. Only one Olympic combination returns (Domien Michiels), whereas Olympian Larissa Pauluis will be bringing her second horse to Herning. Two riders are brand new on the team. 

Belgian will be represented by :

  • Charlotte Defalque - Botticelli (KWPN, ° 2006 by Vivaldi x Koss), owned by Defalque-Scohier MF
  • Domien Michiels - Intermezzo vh Meerdaalhof (BWP, ° 2008 by Gribaldi x Balzflug), owned by Marc Steeno
  • Larissa Pauluis -  First-Step Valentin (WESTF, ° 2012 by Vitalis x Fidermark), owned by Bribosia, First-step Horses, Swennen
  • Lore Vandenborne - Ikke-Pia vd Bergerhoeve (BWP, ° 2008 by San Amour x  Donnerhall ), owned by Hugo Jorissen

No reserves were officially named in the press release, but Belgian team captain Jeroen van Lent confirmed to Eurodressage that the following riders are reserve

  • First reserve: Jorinde Verwimp - Charmer
  • Second reserve: Thibault Vandenberghe - Santiago Song
  • Third reserve: Muriel de Ruijter - D Quaterboy van het Bloemenhof

Van Lent also confirmed that Larissa Paulius has been selected with Flambeau (KWPN, °2010 by Ampere x Zeoliet) as her own reserve horse.
