The Swedish equestrian federation has announced the team that will represent Sweden at the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning (DEN) on 6 - 11 August 2022.
Team captain Bo Jena and team trainer Louise Nathhorst made their selection and aim for a team medal in Herning after placing fourth at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon.
The Swedish team includes three year-long fixtures - Kittel, Juliette Ramel and Theresa Nilshagen - and one newcomer, Jeanna Hogberg. The latter took the freed up spot from Antonia Ramel who semi-retired her former team horse Brother de Jeu.
Newcomer Hogberg is not riding her 2021 European Championship horse Lorenzo, who showed in only one CDI in 2022 (Herning in March), but Astoria which she trained from young horse level to Grand Prix.
Team anchor Patrik Kittel is on a new horse, Touchdown, as his previous number one Well Done de la Roche is still recovering from the injury she sustained at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Swedish team includes
- Therese Nilshagen - Dante Weltino OLD
- Patrik Kittel - Touchdown
- Jeanna Högberg - Astoria
- Juliette Ramel - Buriel K.H
The reserve rider is Antonia Ramel on Curiosity.
Sweden has only once achieved a team medal at the World Championships, 24 years ago in Rome (1998), where Louise Nathhorst was part of the team.
