The dressage selection committee of the German Olympic Equestrian Comittee (DOKR) has made its selection for the team that will be representing Germany at the 2022 World Championships Dressage in Herning, Denmark, on 6 - 11 August 2022.
Germany is the title defender, having won team gold at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon. They also claimed team gold at least year's Olympics and European Championships.
Staying Connected to the Top
However, this year Germany is not as strong as expected with Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow on a pregnancy break and Isabell Werth's top horses Weihegold and Bella Rose retired. Also Dorothee Schneider had to pull out Showtime for not being fit to compete.
Werth tried to stay connected to the world top aboard Victoria Max-Theurer's Quantaz but the DSP stallion has given inconsistent, yet still high scoring performances throughout the spring show season.
Furthermore a big fight was open for the fourth team spot and it was between Ingrid Klimke on Franziskus and Dorothee Schneider on Faustus. Klimke scored 72.217% in the Grand Prix at the second team selection trial in Aachen (after a 70.196% at the CDI Hagen and 75.040% at the German Championships). This year Schneider and Faustus scored 73.522% at the CDI Herning, 73.652% at the CDI Mannheim, 73.326% at the CDI Munich, 74.300% at the German Championships (first team selection trial), and 74.044% at the CDI Kronberg last weekend. See below which rider was preferred for the team.

- Benjamin Werndl on Famoso OLD or Daily Mirror
- Isabell Werth on Quantaz
