Ireland's sole junior rider representative, Martha Jobling Purser, has withdrawn from competing at the 2022 European Junior Riders Championships in Hartpury (GBR) next week.

The 17-year old Jobling Purser was set to compete her 9-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Ivan Carlos (by Ampere x Jazz) in Hartpury.

"Unfortunately due to Ivan Carlos being affected by a medical issue we have made the decision to withdraw him from this year’s European junior championships," Martha wrote.

Jobling Purser made her international show debut in 2019 on pony Valido's Starlight and competed at the 2019 and 2020 European Pony Championships. In 2021 she premiered as a junior rider on Keith Taylor's Seagry Rohsan (by Sandro Hit), while in 2022 she made her debut with Ivan Carlos in Keysoe, followed by a winning start in the team test in Le Mans. She retired from the freestyle there and also at the CDI Wellington Heckfield she retired in the team test.

"I am of course gutted to be missing out on my first & last shot of a junior Europeans," said Martha, "but this setback cannot take away from the great season we’ve had so far with so many highs and his well being is always paramount."
