There will be no history written for Croatia at this year's World Championship Dressage in Herning. Its sole entry and first Croatian Grand Prix rider to make the world stage, Karen Pavicic, has pulled out.

The Canadian born Karen Pavicic qualifier her own and her husband Thomas Baur's 10-year old Hanoverian Totem (by Totilas x Donnerhall) for the 2022 World Championships by scoring 69.391% at the CDI Thermal in November 2021 and 68.239% at the CDI Achleiten in June 2022.

The pair would be Croatia's first ever Grand Prix combination at a World Championships, but the rider today announced her withdrawal.

"After much thought and discussion, I have decided to decline on the opportunity to compete at the World Championships in Hernig, Denmark," Pavicic stated. "Although it would be an honour to compete there, I have determined that it’s not our time. It would be a very big ask of him at only 10 years old, and with very little International experience (especially at the Grand Prix level)."

She continued, "I genuinely feel that it is in Totem’s best interests to not compete at a major championships at this time. I have absolutely no doubt that his time will come, and he will be a super star on the International scene very soon."

Pavicic previously represented Canada at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, France, on Don Daiquiri.
