2005 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

Early this morning I was asked to dig up archive photos from the 2005 Bundeschampionate and while I was rollerdecking through my old CDs I came across those of the 2005 World Young Horse Championships in Verden.

I remember that edition very well. My own trainer was selected to represent Belgium at the time and it was the year that Damon Hill (under Helen Langehanenberg) and Florencio (with Hans Peter Minderhoud) won.

I found a few fun "treasures" on those CDs that are too good not to share.

A young Lone Bang Larsen on her career making Grand Prix horse Fitou L

Yvonne Copal with the KWPN breeding stallion Tuschinski. He was quite naughty in Verden and reared. He did not have a major sport career after that, but did breed significantly for KWPN

Remember her? Canadian Gillian Duke on Riverside. Duke was employed at Gestut Pape in Germany at the time. Last scores I retrieved from this rider was in 2007 on horse Largent.

No clue who these people are but they were rooting for KWPN

Another golden oldie: Danish Astrid Gemal on Schianto (by Gribaldi x Schwadroneur). Breeder Jorgen Rosbog gave the ride to Sidsel Mørkenborg-Riis (née Johansen) who competed him at international GP level until 2013. Gemal's last CDI scores date back from 2010 on Charmeur.

Cadre Noir rider Fabien Godelle on Liaison (by Londonderry x Gralswachter). This horse was bought by ENE in the period that the French National Equestrian Institution shopped in Verden. Liaison went on to compete at GP level with Pauline Vanlandegem (now Basquin)

Portuguese Jeannette Jenny on the Lusitano stallion Spartacus. He sired the Brazilian Olympic horse Escorial. Jenny recently returned to the CDI ring after a 12 year break!

Austrian Saskia Lieben-Seutter on Sir Willson (by Sandro Hit x Canaster). The German based Saskia last rode internationally in 2013 on Du Soleil, who sold to Kristy Oatley and became her most successful GP horse to date.

Talking about Kristy Oatley, this is her with her first born, Oskar

Oliver Oelrich on the Hanoverian breeding stallion Dresemann (by Daidalos x Wolkenstein II). The horse disappeared after the young horse class and went on to produce Dresden Mann, who reached GP level with Ingrid Klimke and win the Otto Lorke prize, before an injury ended his career

Austrian Andreas Pallisch on Ahorn, an Austrian warmblood stallion by Alibi ox Caretello. He sold first J. Jahr-Schwiebert and then to Morgan Barbançon. She competed him internationally for one season in 2012.

Student Falk Rosenbauer and trainer Karin Rehbein. Rosenbauer was last seen in the international arena in 2013 on Hohe Lufts Ramstein. The now 73-year old Rehbein last competed in the CDI ring in 2014.

A young Fie Skarsoe who was the head rider at Gestut Wiesenhof in Krefeld at the time. Here on Rhinelander mare Media Luna (by Munchhausen x Karon). Media Luna competed until 2008 with Kilian Hüttner at M-level and then became a broodmare.
