Former Danish Grand Prix team member Inger Hedegaard has passed away.

Hedegaard was a successful international dressage rider in the 1970s. Her most important horse was the Hanoverin stallion Velten Sohn (by Velten xx x Dulden).

She rode on Team Denmark at the 1974 World Championships in Copenhagen together with Ulla Petersen and Aksel Mikkelsen. Inger placed 20th in the Grand Prix in a field of 32 starters.

Hedegaard became the 1977 Danish Grand Prix Champion. The Nationals that year were quite controversial as they were held on an uneven grass arena. Hedegaard beat Ulla Petersen on Chigwell xx who was the Danish champion three years in a row before her.

At the 1978 World Championships in Goodwood, Hedegaard joined Ulla Petersen, Tove Jorck-Jorkston and Finn Saksø Larsen on the Danish team. The team finished fifth and Inger was 27th in the Grand Prix with 54,80%.

Inger Hedegaard was a lifelong member of the Sportsriding Club, but she gave up riding at an early age to focus on dog sledding and golf.
