GS Syndicate, a collective of passionate American dressage enthusiasts, is thrilled to announce the acquisition of the 7-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding Gørklintgards Smarties from Denmark. This talented horse is set to become the future Grand Prix horse for U.S. Team rider Sarah Tubman.
Gørklintgards Smarties is by Gorklintgards Santos and out of Melena (by Michellino).
Danish Discovery
Sarah Tubman's journey to discovering Smarties began during her visit to Daniel Bachmann's stable in Denmark this summer, where it was truly love at first sight. After two memorable rides, it was evident that destiny had brought them together.
Gørklintgards Smarties has been in the care of Christian Vang-Lauridsen, a renowned Danish horse dealer known for nurturing top-quality horses, alongside his wife, and in collaboration with Danish Team rider Daniel Bachmann. Since Smarties was a foal, Christian has patiently and diligently guided him towards the path of the Grand Prix, focusing on excellence rather than the young horse classes.
GS Syndicate, A New Era in American Dressage
The GS Syndicate is immensely excited to have secured this exceptionally talented performance horse for the future. Their vision is to create a community of like-minded owners dedicated to supporting a U.S. rider and the bright future of U.S. dressage.
Sarah Tubman expresses her excitement about the horse's potential and deep gratitude to the syndicate members, which includes Jessica and Jeff Friedrich, Timi and John Sobrato, Anthony Chimino, and other dedicated dressage enthusiasts. This collective effort aims to fortify the U.S. Dressage Team's presence in international events and exemplifies the effectiveness of pooling resources for procuring world-class dressage horses.
Time to Build and Grow
Recognizing the importance of taking the time to build a string of horses for the future, Sarah Tubman explained, "now is the time to plan for the future, and I have always believed that the only way for the US to truly compete with the Europeans is to make our own horses. Smarties is extraordinarily talented in the piaffe, passage, and has an exceptional walk. His impeccable work ethic and enthusiasm for training and sugar sweet temperament truly embody his name, Smarties."
The partnership between Tubman and Gorklintgards Smarties has no set deadline.
"We would be delighted if we could be part of Team USA for LA 2028," said sarah. However, with Smarties only at the age of 7, the syndicate's primary goal is to patiently nurture a happy and healthy competitive horse for the future.
Smarties will reside at the state of the art facility, Donato Farms, in Wellington, FL where Sarah will work with husband Lee Tubman.
"I am profoundly grateful to this group of people who not only believe in me and our program but in this horse! We are exceptionally eager for the future," Sarah enthuses.
