Delight, one of the foundation mares of Timo und Julia Coldewey's sport pony breeding farm Gestüt Kastanienhof, has passed away on 17 October 2023. She was 21 years old.
Delight was by FS Don't Worry out of Nontesse (by Nils x Niklas x Daikir ox). She was bred by Annette Lembech-Hessling.
As a 3-year old she was very briefly competed by Jutta Beyer-Osterholt and then a finalist in the Westfalian Elite Mare Show. After that she became a broodmare.
The state premium and elite mare produced the Weser-Ems licensing champions Kastanienhof Cockney Cracker WE (by FS Cracker Jack) and Kastanienhof Kentaur WE (by Kennedy WE) in 2012 and 2014. Cockney Cracker became a German team pony winning team gold at the 2021 European Championships and bronze at the 2021 German Pony Championship with Antonia Busch-Kuffner. The pair also won the 2019 Preis der Besten
Delight produced the state premium daughter Diva Delight (by Kennedy), who in her turn produced Bundeschampionate finalist Kastanienhof Donnertrommler (by Dornik B) and premium stallion Kastanienhof Deep Impact WE (by Dating AT NRW).
"After a short, heavy colic we lost our foundation mare Delight," Coldewey posted. "In the last few years she was part of all the success in our sport and breeding programme through her line. We will not forget her. Today is not a good day."
