The Dutch Olympic Horse Foundation (NOP) has signed Marieke van der Putten's Tørveslettens Titanium as NOP horse. He has now been secured for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
NOP
The NOP Foundation provides financial support to the owners of the horses that have Team NL potential to prevent these horses from being sold. The project was initiated in the 1980s and carried out through the 1990s. Horses competed with the "Olympic" prefix at the time. The project ended due to lack of funding, but was rekindled in 2013.
NOP works closely together with the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF) and the board includes Hidde Frankena, Andre Cats, Emile Hendrix, Frank Kemperman and Bram de Feijter.
Dressage and NOP
Over the years NOP has shown a much greater interest in show jumping horses. The last dressage horse, Hermes, was signed in 2022 and before that it was two years ago that another dressage horse was added to the small collection.
Before the turn of the decade the horses of Austrian gun billionaire Gaston Glock were signed (Toto Jr and Dream Boy) alongside Ad Valk's Desperado. Previous NOP dressage horses were Avanti, Expression, and Zonik.
At the moment only Hermes and Titanium are signed. Four para dressage horses are also supported by NOP (Alphaville, Daula, Rosenstolz, Demantur). NOP supports one eventing horse (Jersey MBF) and six show jumpers (Hernandez TN, Beauville Z, Monaco, Grandorado TN, O'Bailey van het Brouwershof and Highway TN).
Titanium
The 11-year old Danish warmblood Torveslettens Titanium (by Totilas x Stedinger) was member of the Dutch team at the 2022 World Championships in Herning. At the 202" World Cup Finals he sustained a colic and was operated on at Iowa State University where the stayed for a month before flying back home. At last month's CDI Leeuwarden Marieke van der Putten and Titanium made a winning come back.
Titanium is owned by Saskia and Jacques Lemmens of RS2 Dressage. The couple runs a major pharmaceutical company (Synthon - Byondis)
