The Hanoverian society has announced that the licensed Dynamic Dream x Millennium colt has tested positive to medication at the 2023 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden.
The Hanoverian society does "medication checks" of all licensed stallions and this year one returned positive.
Dynamic Dream Son
It concerns cat nr 19, the Dynamic Dream of of premium mare Millenniums Girl (by Millennium x De Niro x Weltmeyer). He is bred and owned by Heiko Klausing. At the auction following the licensing, he sold for 65,000 euro although the buyer's identity was not disclosed.
The blood sample showed a positive finding for the active ingredient salicylic acid. This finding was confirmed by the analysis of the B sample. The FEI clean sport database writes that salicylic acid is a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory which may be used to relieve pain, inflammation and control fever.
"According to the Hanoverian regulations, the licensing certificate for the above-mentioned stallion is revoked. A new presentation is possible. The stallion's medication not only represents a violation of the statutes of the Hanoverian Association, but also of its good governance. The purchase of the stallion was changed."
Like Father Like Son?
The positive medication case immediately brings back memories of sire Dynamic Dream (by Dream Boy x Sir Donnerhall), who was the 2019 Westfalian Licensing champion but lost his licence when he also tested positive to the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) Flunixin.
He had sold at auction for 1.9 million euro to Andreas Helgstrand, but rumours that this stallion was already sold beforehand and the stellar 1.9 million euro auction price amount was not paid, never stopped circulating in the breeding world.
Helgstrand did not return the stallion after hearing about the positive medication case but re-presented the colt at a later licensing where he was approved. Dynamic Dream became one of the most popular breeding stallions in Europe of the last few years. He was also the best represented sire at the 2023 Hanoverian stallion Licensing with no less than seven of his sons pre-selected for Verden.
