Lima (PER) and Asuncion (PRY) are bidding to host the 2027 Pan American Games after Barranquilla was stripped of the rights.

The 2027 edition of the Pan American Games are currently without a host. Barranquilla, Colombia was initially announced as the host in August 2021, but the city lost its hosting rights in January 2024 after the country's Ministry of Sports failed to meet contractual obligation, as well as for financial reasons.

The capitals of Paraguay (Asuncion) and Peru (Lima) have officially submitted their applications to become the hosts of the XX Pan-American Games.

On 12 March 2024 Panam Sports will hold a virtual Extraordinary General Assembly to allocate the Games.

During the Assembly, each of the candidate cities must make a 40-minute presentation before a vote will be held among the member countries of Panam Sports to decide the city that will hold the next edition

"We are very happy with the application from two of our continent's great cities," Panam Sports president Neven Ilic said in a statement. "Both met the stipulated deadline with the requested requirements."
