The Dutch equestrian federation has announced the team that will represent The Netherlands in the FEI Nations Cup in Rotterdam on 20 - 23 June 2024.
The CDIO Rotterdam serves as second and last Dutch Olympic team selection trial following the Dutch Championships last week in Ermelo.
Dutch team trainer Patrick van der Meer has decided on his team for Rotterdam based on the results achieved in the Grand Prix Special in Ermelo, and not the overall results in the Nationals. That top four of the Special is the team for Rotterdam:
- Dinja van Liere - Hermes
- Emmelie Scholtens - Indian Rock
- Marlies van Baalen - Habibi DVB
- Edward Gal - Total U.S.
“In Paris, the Grand Prix Special is decisive for the Team ranking," said Patrick van der Meer. "For Rotterdam I have now chosen the four combinations that scored best in that test at the National Championships, but it was a difficult choice. The level at the National Championships was extremely high and it was all very close together. The CHIO is our second observation competition towards the Olympic Games and everything is still possible, especially because everyone was so evenly matched during the Nationals. The combinations that are not in the team now will ride their tests in Rotterdam on Wednesday and Thursday under exactly the same conditions as the combinations that ride in the Nations Cup. That makes it possible for me to compare all the performances well.”
The KNHS did not yet announce if it will be sending riders to the CDIO Aachen, which is right before the official Olympic nominative deadline.
