Brand new German champions Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Dalera BB have a received a bye and will not compete in Germany's second Olympic team selection trial in Aachen on 4 - 7 July 2024.

Dalera BB Receives Bye

Werndl and the 17-year old Trakehner mare Dalera BB (by Easy Game x Handryk) dominated the German Championships in Balve, winning all three rounds with  78.640% in the Grand Prix, 81.078% in the Special and 89.600% in the Kur.

As the reigning Olympic champions, the pair has been excused from riding another heavy selection trial in Aachen (4 - 7 July 2024), three weeks before the Olympics.

"yes we are nominated for Paris, it still has to sink in, but it's such a cool feeling," Werndl confirmed. "Of course I wanted to ride in Aachen but I had to give that up. For my ego I wanted to make it happen again, to be on that stage, but from a sportive perspective it's insanely close to Paris and I want to stay in this six-week rhythm. Now I'll drive Dalera home, give her some down time and slowly prepare her for Paris.. it's perfect like that. I'm grateful that this decision has been taken for me, so we can really go on the road to Paris."

German Team CDIO Aachen

Werth and Quantaz were 8th, 5th and 4th in Balve
German team trainer Monica Theodorescu and the technical staff at the FN/DOKR have nominated the German team for the 2024 CDIO Aachen. The riders going in the CDIO-tour are the most likely candidates for Olympic team selection alongside Werndl.

They are:

  • Frederic Wandres - Bluetooth
  • Ingrid Klimke - Franziskus
  • Katharina Hemmer - Denoix PCH
  • Isabell Werth - Quantaz

Isabell Werth will be competing Wendy in the CDI 4* tour in Aachen alongside the other top ranked pairs from Balve.

Wandres won double silver in Balve and opted to spare his number one, Bluetooth, from today's freestyle, as the Oldenburg gelding will have to do three tests at the CDIO Aachen, while his second horse, Duke of Britain, will go into the 4* tour (two tests in Aachen).
