Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper, America's highest scoring pair at the first European based U.S. team observation trial in Hagen, has received dispensation from competing in a second CDI within the required time-frame.

He will not compete at the CDI Kronberg next as part of the American pre-Olympic Euro tour. After the weekend of Kronberg/Rotterdam, the U.S. team will be announced.

U.S. riders needed to compete in a minimum of two CDIs between May 8, 2024 – June 25, 2024, and at least one of them had to be at the observation Events (Le Mans, Hagen, or Rotterdam).

According to dressage-news, the "U.S. federation confirmed Monday that selectors approved the request by Steffen to compete (..) Suppenkasper at Aachen based on the duo’s “previous proven ability” that included team silver at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon as well as Tokyo."

This means that the pair will not ride Kronberg, where six other U.S. short listed combinations will be battling it out for the two remaining U.S. Olympic team spots. They are Adrienne Lyle (Helix), Endel Ots (Bohemian), Anna Buffini (Fiontini), Marcus Orlob (Jane), Anna Marek (Fire Fly), and Kasey Perry-Glass (Heartbeat WP).

At last weekend's CDI Hagen Peters and Akiko Yamazaki's 16-year old KWPN gelding Suppenkasper (by Spielberg x Krack C)  scored 72.869% in the Grand Prix and 72.660% in the Special and were American's highest scoring duo. They also won team silver at the 2021 Olympoic

USEF has a clause that an athlete who has met published criteria can ask for a bye from portions of the selection process, such as the requirement to do two CDIs in Europe within a certain time frame.
