Jessica and Benjamin Werndl have acquired a new young horse as an FEI hopeful for the future. The 5-year old Singleton has joined their string of horses at their yard in Aubenhausen, Germany.
Singleton is a 2019 born Hanoverian gelding by Secret out of Donna Mae (by Damsey x Don Gregory). He is bred by Saddle Me Engelke, the company of breeder Carsten Engelke.
Madelene Engelke
The black gelding has been produced up the levels by Carsten's wife, Swedish Madelene Engelke, who has carefully competed him in riding horse tests to L-level.
She premiered the gelding as a 4-year old in May 2023 and finished fourth at the 2023 Hanoverian young horse championships in Verden, which resulted in a nomination for the Bundeschampionate. In Warendorf the pair finished 12th in the 4-year old mares and geldings qualification class.
In 2024 Engelke moved Singleton up to L-level and re-qualified him for the Bundeschampionate, where they were 11th in the 5-year old dressage horse finals with an 8.24 score. Engelke also presented him in the German team selection trial for the 2024 World Young Horse Championships and made it into the second round, but not the final cut.

The Werndl family has now acquired Singleton as an FEI prospect for the future
"He has an amazing character, he is super gentle and he seems to be very intelligent," Jessica von Bredow-Werndl told Eurodressage. "And he has three extraordinary good paces."
Double Olympic champion Jessica added that, "Benni is riding him right now. We haven’t decided yet who is going to ride him. Sometimes it changes. And that’s great about our partnership as we want to find the best combination in the end."
