CHIO Aachen, the most sublime equestrian competition, begins tomorrow. From 15th to 20th June 1999 show jumping, dressage and carriage driving competitions will take place in the wonderful German city Bad Aachen for their 101st time.
It is a compliment to the organising committee to already have received confirmations from such elite dressage riders as Isabell Werth (Rheinberg), Olympic gold medal winner, World and European Champion; Nadine Capellmann-Biffar (Würselen), Team World Champion; and Alexandra Simons-de Ridder (Aachen), who all have stated their intention to participate in Aachen, weeks before the actual closing date for entries.
In addition to the internationally successful German dressage and show jumping riders, participants from guest nations will also be competing in the Albert-Vahle-Arena again. A definite confirmation has already been received from the top quartet of the Netherlands: the show jumpers Emile Hendrix, Jeroen Dubbeldam, Peter Geerink and Rob Ehrens. From the neighbouring Belgium, Ludo and Johan Philippaerts will again start in Aachen.
Conjoined to the event, the Westphalian Verband offers a unique collection of top dressage horse for auction. The young dressage stars are presented by the Westfalen Auctions Team between the dressage tests and breaks.
