At the 104th Elite Auction for Hanoverian Sport Horses 29 out of 39 youngster were sold abroad. Statistics show that more than 50% of the collection is being purchased by foreign buyers over the last three two years. This makes the Hanoverian Germany's most wanted breed world wide.
Top knock down price at this auction was a meagre 120,000DM (despite the 600,000 DM Verden record) for the beautiful Werther x Calypso II mare Winora. Bred by Hans-Heinrich Schmidt, Winore was sold to a Swedish buyer who also saw great prospect in the dark bay mare Habanera S (Hohentstein x Wenzel). Habanera will move to Sweden for 75,000DM.
Americans Dick and Jane Brown were fascinated by the capacities of the chestnut mare Wolina (by Wolkentanz x Bolero). For 112,000 DM, Wolina is flown to the USA where she will most likely be further trained by Gunther Seidel, who already presented the Verden auction horse Graf George at the 1996 Olympic Games and 1998 World Equestrian Games. Wolina is bred by Walter Willhaus from Krummhörn, Germany.
Two more Hanoverians reached the magical line of 100,000DM. The pitch black mare Wiwien by Weltmeyer x Ataturk was bred by Joachim Wahlers from Reessum (GER) and will stay in Niedersachsen. Campao, a Crazzy Classic descendant, was sold for the same amount but is moving to Westfalen. As usually, the United States was the top buying country in Verden.
With 10 out of 53 horses, the country is importing the most Hanoverians from this elite auction. Three horses are going to Canada and Switzerland. Two will be further trained in Spain, England, Italy and Sweden. One horse is going to Ukraine. Most expensive foal sold at the coinciding foal auction was Donovan Baily (De Niro x Rubinstein) sold for 41,000 DM.
