The 109th Elite Auction for Hanoverian Sport horses and foals broke once again all records for the Hanoverian Society in Verden. With a knock down highlight of 185,000 € and many top priced horses, the average price for a Verden auction horse was a record of 31.863,64 Euro. Especially due to a Spanish influx in Verden, prices rose considerably. Ten out of 77 auctioned horses will be moving to sunny Spain.
A Spanish dressage fan purchased Diandra, a black mare by Donnerhall x Alabaster, for 185,000 €, the top price of the auction. Bred by Kerstin Albers-Buker from Buren-Ahden, Germany, Diandra excelled in her three basic gaits as well as in her conformation, making her an interesting future prospect for the dressage ring.
Second most expensive horse was 2003 Bundeschampionate Reserve Champion Walk of Fame. Ridden by Iris Jonetat in Warendorf, Walk of Fame was considered the center fold of the 109th Elite Auction's catalogue. However, the chestnut gelding by Weltmeyer x Carbid, 'only' achieved the second highest price of 160,000 €. Bred by Nicole and Frenk Pistner, Walk of Fame has found a new home in Australia.
The chestnut mare Donna (by Donnerhall x Wittinger) achieved the third highest price of 120,000 €. Bred by Helmut Ostermeier, Donna will receive further training at her new owner's dressage stable in Hamburg, Germany. Canada was especially interested in show jumpers. They paid 92,000 € for Rayana Chiara (Ragazzo x Caletto) and 82,000 € for Coolio (Chasseur x Wanderer). An Italian bought Almost Famous (Argentinus x Lombardo) for 65,000 €.
Besides the record average price, there were also best scores for the export rate. 58% of the auction horses moved abroad to 15 different countries.
Twenty-two foals were auctioned, achieving an average price of 6,381 € per foal. An Italian invested 20,000 € into the dark bay filly Ehranerin (Escudo x Calypso II), who was bred by Arno Knoop.
