It has been four months since Germany's favorite dressage rider, American Lisa Wilcox, left her second home country to start a new life and dressage career at Dr. Samuel Schatzmann's barn in Oftringen, Switzerland.
The most important spring shows of the 2005 competition season are about to take place, and many readers sent Eurodressage emails wondering if Lisa Wilcox is ready for some action.
We quickly got in touch with Wilcox' maecenas Dr Schatzmann, who was very willing to share some news with us. "Lisa is training 13 horses for me at the moment and is assisted by one rider, two grooms and one apprentice. All horses are owned by me, except one. Once a month, Ernst Hoyos helps her with the training of the horses for three days," Schatzmann explained. "The show season is about to kick off and Lisa will present seven horses for competition," he added.
Lisa has two Grand Prix horses at her disposal. Pinocchio, a 12-year old bay Oldenburg gelding by Pablo x Corso, and Cinque Cento, a 10-year old bay Holsteiner gelding by Cambridge x Liostro. Cinque Cento and Lisa, who are pictured right, have been entered for the CDI Munich and CDI Bern.
Wilcox will also be competing one small tour horse, De Niro's Son, a dark bay Westfalian gelding by De Niro x Fabelhaft. "He is entered in one national show at the end of April and also for the CDI Munich and Bern," Schatzmann said. "The goal is to compete him in the Nurnberg Burgpokal."
FEI Young Horse fans will be pleased to know that Lisa has two hopefuls for the 2005 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden. She has two 5-year olds in training with international quality. Dolomit, a liver chestnut gelding by De Niro x Rohdiamant, and Feroccio, a chestnut Westfalian by Fibonacci x Pinocchio are being prepared for Verden.
On a Swiss national level, Lisa will try to qualify two 4-year olds for the 2005 Swiss Young Horse Championships: Damiano, a Hanoverian gelding by Donnerhall x Brentano II, and Saladin, a Hanoverian gelding by Sandro Hit x Weltmeyer.
So plenty of horses Lisa can ride into the picture. We can't wait to see her again in the show ring!
