The first auction of 2006 held by the Hanoverian Verband in Verden, Germany, has set a new export record. 62% of the 113 auctioned horses sold abroad. Once again, the U.S.A. acquired the most as 21 horses will cross the Atlantic. Italy and Spain bought nine Hanoverians, while Swedish buyers purchased seven.
The price highlight of the 2006 Winter Auction was Lertigo, a Lancier x Graf Lehndorff gelding with dressage talent. A Spanish buyer paid 52,000 euro for him. Second most expensive horse was Winwood, a Waterford x World Cup III, that sold to Spain for 38,000 euro.
Most expensive show jumper was the 5-year old Limerick (Landsieger x Azur). An American jumper rider bought the gelding for 30,000 euro.
The average price for a Hanoverian Riding Horse at the Winter Auction was 12,693 euro.
