Belgian team young rider Anouck Hoet has returned to her winning ways having survived a severe car crash in the summer of 2008.
Aboard her stallion Wild Diamond, she scored 66,053 % and won the Young Riders division at the first Belgian CDI Selection trial of the season.
The trial was held in Het Zilveren Spoor in Moorsele on 1 February 2009 and is the first in a series of three at which Belgian FEI riders can obtain their qualification score of 64% or higher to earn the right to compete internationally during the 2009 show season. The judges at the Moorsele trial were Mariette Withages, Anne-Marie Swenden and Geert Lemmens.
For Hoet it was her first big event since the horrible car crash which put her out of the running for half a year. On 13 July 2008, dressage riders Anouck and her younger sister Manon Hoet got stuck in a severe car accident and sustained multiple injuries. Manon had a concussion and bruises all over her body, while Anouck fractured her vertebrae in her neck. Anouck faced five months of intensive physiotherapy and saw her entries at the European Young Riders Championships and Belgian Dressage Champion vaporize into thin air.
Anouck started riding again in December with a neck collar and had to overcome subsequent muscle pain with each ride. The talented young rider has been slowly preparing her rising 8-year old Oldenburg stallion Wild Diamond, which she has owned since he was a youngster, for the small tour classes. The stallion is interestingly bred as he is by Welt Hit II out of Loreana (by Don Schufro), the full sister of Emma Hindle's Diamond Hit.
Hoet's trainer Wim Verwimp also enjoyed success in the pony riders' division as his student Leyla Larsson obtained the qualification norm with Bjirmen's Tsjalling after scoring 64,386%. Current FEI pony rider Noemie Goris showed her 9-year old junior rider's horse Wunderbar for the first time and got 65,965% from the judges.
