The Danish Grand Prix horse Mikado Engvang has been sold to Anette Ejlersgaard, who is stabled at Helgstrand Dressage and trains with Andreas Helgstrand.
The Danish warmblood gelding Mikado Engvang was owned by Rune Willum and Joachim Thomsen. He serve as schoolmaster for Ejlersgaard.
The 13-year old Mikado is by Midt-West Ibi-Light x Pari Ace and has been the successful equine partner of Joachim Thomsen. The combination represented Denmark at the 2007 European Dressage Championships in Turin and placed third with the Danish team at the 2006 CDIO Aachen. In 2008, the pair won the Nordic Baltic Championships at Grand Prix level.
Thomsen and his life partner Rune Willum acquired a new dressage stable three years ago in Hårlev, Denmark, and the sale of Thomsen's number one Grand Prix horse Mikado was a welcome financial investment for the couple.
Anette Ejlersgaard has been training with Helgstrand for quite some time and has also purchased Hørgaards Hustler (Blue Hors Hertug x Weltmeyer) when Andreas was riding him. Helgstrand was long listed with the gelding for the 2005 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. The chestnut Hustler is bred by Laila Roschmann, who also owned Andreas' former Grand Prix horse Gredstedgards Casmir.
Andreas Helgstrand will be relocating his "Helgstrand Dressage" to Møgelmosegård in Nordjylland, close to Aalborg, Denmark. Helgstrand's initial plans were to build a whole new equestrian centre, but he changed his mind and has purchased the existing property Møgelmosegård with the help of his sponsor Mr Vagner. The property has brand new equestrian facilities with 45 stalls and a big indoor arena. The Helgstrand family will move to this property on 1 August 2009.
