The Dutch dressage pony team is currently in the lead after the first day of the team competition at the 2010 European Pony Championships hosted at Bishop Burton College near Hull, Great Britain, on 28 July 2010.
Dutch Dana Von Lierop and her 9-year-old Thuringian bred Reitpony gelding Equestricons Lord Champion (by Le Champion) clinched the top spot ahead German Lena Charlott Walterscheid on Deinhard B (by Dornik B).
Von Lierop finished with a respectable 72.83%, taking the Dutch contingent to first place after her efforts were bolstered by performance from fourth Dutch team rider Suzanne van de Ven with Majos Cannon who finished on 64.44%. The Dutch team averaged a team score of 68.63% so far, which puts them in a provisional first place.
Lying in second place, Team Germany saw respectable performances from Walterscheid and Grete Linnemann aboard White Gold with scores of 70.33% and 66.16% respectively. Walterscheidt's Deinhard B was distracted by the huge video camera with boom next to the judges box at C.
Danish Sofie Hougaard and her German Reitpony gelding Dornick Son (by Dornik B) and fellow Dane Caroline Bording Smidton Campari M secured the third spot for Team Denmark with a combined score of 67.47%
The home team Great Britain is currently lying in 9th place following solid tests from Lottie Fry aboard 8-year-old German Riding Pony stallion Andexer and Charlotte Gill and the chestnut pony gelding Ferrari (by Flying Dream).
