The first viewing of dressage stallions for the 2012 KWPN Stallion Licensing started on 8 December in Ermelo, The Netherlands. Out of 69 presented stallions, 18 were selected to move on to the second phase.
One of the most spectacular colts of the day, according to the KWPN society, was Excalibur (by Furst Romancier x Krack C). Endless Dream (by Krack C x Diamond Hit) was also a highlight.
The offspring of Lord Leatherdale (by Lord Loxley x Ferragamo x Anmarch) impressed overall and four of his sons made it to the second round. "The Lord Leatherdale offspring excelled in their good flexion of the joints and seem to have nice temperaments," said Arie Hamoen, chair of the KWPN Stallion Selection Committee. "The offspring could have moved more uphill but we like to see four of those again in Den Bosch."
Krack C and Lancet both have two sons through to the second round. The full brothers to licensed stallios Zhivago and Ziesto as well as Grand Prix horse Uzzo are amongst them. Two colts by Florencio, Johnson and Jazz also passed.
The licensing committee was pleased with the quality on offer on the first viewing day. "We left the ring with a positive feeling," said Hamoen. "We are looking for dressage stallions with enough frame. Some horses were quite tense and we deliberately gave a few of the very green colts to opportunity to present themselves again in Den Bosch."
