The 4-year old Hanoverian bred Belaggio became the top selling horses at the 2016 Hanoverian March Auction of young sport horses and foals in Verden, Germany, on Saturday 26 March 2016.
Belaggio (by Belissimo M x Ehrentanz) is bred and owned by Gestut Hulsdau and sold for 62,000 euro to a Belgian customer.
A brand new auctioneer, Belgian Frederik de Backer, swung the hammer in Verden for the March Auction, which replaced the traditional spring elite auction in Verden. A collection of 81 horses were presented for auction.
The most expensive show jumper was Voodoo (by Valentino x Contendro). This 4-year old sold for 50,000 euro to The Nehterlands.
German clients paid 47,000 euro for Royal Classic III (by Royal Highness x Florestan) , full brother to the licensed stallions Royal Classic I and II. Don't Worry K (by Dancier x Londonderry) sold for 41,5000 euro to Germans, while Quinn (by Quaid x Stakkato) moves abroad for 40,000 euro.
Conchetta S (by Carrico x Contender) switched owners for 38,000 euro, while Beverly D (by Balou de Rouet x Raphael) sold abroad for 37,000 euro
A collection of 41 foals was offered for sale. The colt Freelancer (by Franziskus x Soliman de Hus) achieved the highest knock down price of 32,000 euro. A stallion reared from Westfalia acquired the colt. Denario (by Danone I x Rubinero) sold abroad for 24,000 euro.
The average price for a sport horse was 17,913 euro, the average price for a foal was 7,085 euro.
