The creme de la creme of the German dressage elite attended the 2020 "Ball des Sports" which celebrated its 50th edition in the RheinMain CongressCenter in Wiesbaden, Germany, on 1 February 2020.

The German foundation "Deutsche Sporthilfe" invited around 2,000 guests to the event. This year equestrian sport was being highlighted as discipline of the year and several renowned riders rode in exhibitions with dressage and show jumping before the gala and during the gala dinner.

Isabell Werth gave a demo on Weihegold  with Monica Theodorescu commenting. The 2019 German Pony Champion Rose Oatley rode Daddy Moon in a short demonstration of pony dressage. Further demos were given by Marcus Ehning (jumping) and Ingrid Klimke (eventing).

Afterwards the riders changed clothes from breeches into gowns and attended the gala. The musical highlight of the evening was provided by national star singer Herbert Grönemeyer.

The Ball des Sports was founded in 1970 by German dressage rider Josef Neckermann and at the time supported by German dressage rider and millionaire Liselott Linsenhoff. Since then top politicians, show stars, and sports athletes have attended the event.
