From 4 - 6 July, Dansk Varmblod (Danish Warmblood Studbook) is hosting the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) International Young Breeders (IYB) World Championships at Stutteri Ask

154 competitors, accompanied by their team leaders and supporters, has arrived in Martofte, Denmark to represent twenty studbooks on all things breeding. An event of international allure with delegates attending from near and far, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Latvia, Sweden, The Netherlands and hosts Denmark.

The World Championships concept was founded by the International Young Breeders and is supported by the WBFSH. The aim of the Championship is to bring together young people from various breeding associations, countries, and languages to learn from each other, share ideas, make friendships, and build an international network. The contestants are aged 16 to 26 years of age, divided in two different age categories throughout the Championships: juniors (16 to 20 years of age) and seniors (21 to 26 year of age). Teams are comprised of three to four participants that compete also as individuals, with the best three individual results counting towards the team total score; and ultimately, when junior and senior team totals are added together, to the overall studbook score.

Jan Pedersen, chairman of Danish Warmblood and president of WBFSH, is delighted that the world championship for young breeders has come to Denmark this year: - It is a great pleasure to welcome committed young people from various parts of the world to this championship under the auspices of International Young Breeders.

The event committee in Danish Warmblood Young Breeders (Ung i DV) has put a lot of work into the preparations for the championship, and we are very grateful for the support we have received from sponsors and not least from Stutteri Ask, who have made their fantastic facilities available for the event. For three days, the young breeders will compete on skills, both theoretical and practical. I look forward to meeting the young breeders who are representatives of their breeding association, but also represent the future of horse breeding.

Championships begins on 4 July with the theory test. This is a multiple choice assessment including questions on nutrition, stable management, the anatomy of the horse, breeding, international sport, and equine health matters. The official opening ceremony commences following the theory examination, and is where the teams parade, be introduced and celebrated.

On Sunday 7 July the young breeders, team leaders and supporters will relax and spend time together on a guided tour of Stutteri Ask and Schelenborg Gods followed by an excursion to Altano Højgård Hestehospital.
