The 2025 Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida is in its second of three months of competition. This mid-way point is the perfect time for Eurodressage to jump the puddle and pop over for its annual "check-up" of the state of dressage in the U.S.A.
The fact that 2025 is a "non-year" for American and Canadian dressage riders has its effect on the sport. With no summer championships (Pan Am, World, Olympic) to race for, the entry field at international shows can be rather uninspiring as elite riders chose to stay behind closed doors to train and conserve energy. On the other hand, it could also bring about the coveted surprises of new combinations testing mettle and that's what we are secretly hoping for..
Will squad horses Jane, Lars van de Hoenderheide, Hansel, Haute Couture, and Bohemian come out? Will established new comers on U.S. soil, Vividus and Indian Rock, get their feet wet at Global, even if it's just for training? Is seclusive Laura Graves making an outing with her new Grand Prix rides Sole Mio and Java Dulce any time soon? And what about the rising stars FJ Ramzes, Johnny Be Goode, Harrold S, Stenagers Wyatt Earp? I hope to see Nova, Gremlin, Rosebank, Paxton and Vamos.. So many nice horses are here in Florida. Come out come out where ever you are!
