At the 2003 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, the chestnut sire Friedensfürst has been proclaimed Elite Sire by the Trakehner Verband. Based on the successful achievements of his offspring and on his own wonderful performances under Nicole Uphoff and Lisa Wilcox, Friendensfurst earned this special title.
Friedensfurst was by Rondo out of Frieda (by Gelria) and was bred and owned by Jorn Merzdorf from Ettenbüttel, Germany. The chestnut sire, who was approved for the Hanoverian and Trakehner Studbook, has two licensed offspring, Pathmos and Lücke, and eight State Premium Mares. His daughter Bandera (Friedensfurst x Diamant) finished fourth at the 2003 Bundeschampionate in the 3-year old division, and she became 2003 Trakehner Mare Champion of the Year in Neumunster.
Friedensfurst unfortunately passed away in June 2001 after a serious heart disease. He was then at the apex of his career, as he earned many ribbons (36) and trophies (20) at Intermediaire I level and was briefly shown at Grand Prix level.
Friendensfurst scored high notes for his conformation and its hereditability. His overall score was 131 points (type 140, body 121, walk 109, trot 135, canter 130). Due to these high marks, his fabulous offspring and because frozen semen is still available of this stallion, the Trakehner Verband decided to honour the late Friedensfurst with the Elite Hengst title.
