American Grand Prix rider Kamila Dupont and owner Alix Fargo have decided to retire their Hanoverian gelding Reveille. "In the last few shows it has been increasingly obvious that he is struggling more and more
with the harder movements, even his signature piaffe has not be up to his usual standard," explained Dupont.
Reveille has been Dupont's steady competition partner for over 15-years. "Although he never won anything really “big” he had flair, and a style that made him successful, even in Europe," said Dupont.
Reveille was a jumper in Germany for six years before he started his career in dressage. 'These years of service have taken their toll and I feel that his heart (and his body) isn't in it like it used to be. He did more for us than we ever expected or thought possible. We want to bow out gracefully and now is the time. I wish that every hopeful rider could have a horse like him; he was never easy, but he was always in the game!" added Dupont.
Dupont's highlight year aboard Reveille was in 2002, when the combination was submitted to the USET Grand Prix Long List, and had placed third in the U.S. World Cup League Final in Burbank, CA.
Kamila Dupont, who is currently located in Lutjensee, Germany, where she trains with Karin Rehbein at Gestut Grönwohldhof, has recently acquired a replacement for Reveille: Pepper, a 10-year old Bavarian gelding trained and competed at Intermediaire I level.
