Two well known Prix St Georges horses have been sold recently. In Holland, the KWPN stallion Radar (by Cockstail x Le Mexico) has been sold to Mrs Frain in Sweden. In Germany, Wanesco has been sold to Gisela Carstens.
The extremely talented Wanesco has been sold to Gisela Carstens. Carstens, who is known for having bought the sports rights of Karin Rehbein's mare Cherie (and then had to go to court because of a dispute with the Hoebers, the owners of Cherie) purchased Wanesco from Paul Sprehe, but the horse will remain in training with Holga Finken, who rode the liver chestnut gelding to a silver medal at the 2001 World Young Horse Championships. The Bavarian branded Wanesco (Weltmeyer x Werther) is nowadays a virtually unbeatable Prix St Georges horse in Germany.
The Dutch warmblood stallion Radar was owned by Mr Venderbosch and Mr Geessink and competed by Marlies van Baalen at Fourth level. Radar will be moving to Asko Stutteri in Vasteras, Sweden, where he will be up for stud and ridden by Mrs Frain.
