The first Equine Elite Auction, which took place at the Horse Academy in Hooge Mierde, The Netherlands, October 29, 2005, was a big success for organizers Diederik Wigmans and Craig Rawlins. The highest priced horse was Verona, a Jazz x Glennridge, selling for 205,000 euro to Mirelle van Kemenade-Witlox, who also owns the 2005 Pavo Cup champion Dreamcatcher.
The second highest priced horse was Laterna, a dark bay Swedish bred mare by Corrado, who entered the auction with a wild card. Wim Zegwaard purchased this mare for 150,000 euro and will put the horse in training with Dutch team rider Laurens van Lieren.
Ursus sold for 140,000 euro, the Sandro Hit mare Shilo for 110,000 euro, the lovely Contendro stallion Conquest achieved a price of 105,000 euro. Twenty-nine horses in total were sold over the Equine Elite auction and they achieved an average price of 53,000 euro. Horses sold to the United States, Sweden, Switzerland, England and several to The Netherlands.
