Thamar Zweistra has won the 2006 Pikeur Trophy Finals, which were held at the Horse Event in Hooge Mierde, The Netherlands, last weekend. To win the 2006 Pikeur Trophy, the results of the semi finals, which were held in Wiekevorst, Belgium
, in August, and the results of the Finals were added and averaged. Though Zweistra did not win the Kur Finals last weekend, she did become the overall winner aboard Hexagon's Roumanda.
The 2006 Pikeur Finals came to a conclusion with a Small tour Kur to Music finals that were won by Moniek van Dijk on Now I'm Here. Van Dijk scored 70.30% and beat Thamar Zweistra and Roumanda with a minimal point difference (70.25%). Finishing third was the Hannelore Volders on the Oldenburg stallion Real Magic (by Rubinstein). The Belgian pair scored 69.05%
In the overall championship Thamar Zweistra took the lead with 70.15% and won the 2006 Pikeur Trophy. Moniek van Dijk finished second and Dominique Filion third. O-judge Jan Peeters commented, "Thamar knows how to ride a kur. She had music that fit well and provided a lovely ride with nice contact with the bit. Roumanda's trot is spectacular, her canter a bit flat. Moniek is technically very correct and showed good traversal movements."
