The German Breed Society auctions are having a tough time getting top prices at their 'normal' quality mid-season auctions in comparison to the Elite Auctions at which astronomical prices are achieved.
The 2008 Hanoverian Equitop auction dealt with economical buyers and the same happened at the 2008 Westfalian Summer Auction in Munster, Germany, on May 18, 2008. Sir Rocco became the price highlight of the auction, selling for 34,000 euro to the United States. Lower prices at these auctions are, of course, heaven for horse dealers and buyers to get a good deal.
The black gelding Sir Rocco is by Sir Bedo x Florestan I and is bred and presented at auction by Ulrich Erfling. The gelding sold for 34,000 euro to American Melissa Mulchahey of RoseLane Sporthorses. The horse ships immediately to California where he will be trained and shown by Elizabeth Hendrix. Mulchahey was presented at the auction by Jorn Kubelke, who tested the horse and bid for her on the scene.
The second best knock down price was 33,000 euro for Daily Pleasure. This bay gelding by Don Christobal x Rohdiamant x Lysander sold to Sweden. The black mare Anastacia, by Abanos x Florestan I x Royal Angelo I, sold for 30,000 euro to Switzerland.
The best selling dressage pony was Domice, a liver chestnut Domingo x Playboy mare, which sold for 5,200 €. The average price for a Westfalian sport horse at this auction was 12,015 euro. 22 horses sold abroad of which 7 alone sold to Great Britain.
