Somerset, Price Highlight of the 2009 Vechta Spring Elite Auction

The licensed and performance tested Oldenburg stallion Somerset became the price highlight of the 2009 Spring Elite Auction in Vechta, Germany, on April 4, 2009. The black stallion by Stedinger out of Aimee (by Rubinstein I x Justinian xx) sold for 160,000 euro.

Mr De la Lastra from Madrid, Spain purchased this horse from American owner and breeder Holly Simensen from West Palm Beach, FL, USA. Under the supervision of Hubertus Schmidt, Spanish Grand Prix rider Juan Manual Vidal will be training and competing him.

The second most expensive horse was Sonnenreiter, a Sir Donnerhall x Lord Sinclair offspring, bred and owner by Brigitte and Manfred Langelueddecke. The big stallion sold for 120,000 euro to the Luxembourg syndicate LUX-dressage, which also bought Statesman OLD for the record price of 400,000 euro at the 2008 Autumn Elite Auction.

The lovely mare Una Supra (by Sandro Hit x Sion Z) sold for 100,000 euro to Dr. Carnovale in Australia. This mare is bred by Aloys Hinxlage. The best selling pony was the chestnut mare Coppa Cabana (by Charivari x Sandro Hit x Donnerhall) which sold for 13,000 euro to Bavaria.

Fifty-two sport horses sold at the Vechta Spring Elite auction, good for a total turnover of 1,7 million euro. Twenty-one youngsters sold in Germany, 32 sold abroad of which 12 sold to the U.S.A.. The overall average price was 32,000 euro.

The next Oldenburg sport horse auction is the Summer Mixed Sales on 6 June 2009.
